AMNESTIC DISORDER THAT IS CHARACTERIZED BY TEMPORARY BUT ALMOST TOTAL DISRUPTION OF SHORT-TERM MEMORY WITH A RANGE OF PROBLEMS ACCESSING OLDER MEMORIES.
Amnesia, transient global; Global amnesia; Global Amnesia; Transient Global Amnesia

Anterograde amnesia
 • Hippocampus (brain)
LOSS OF THE ABILITY TO CREATE NEW MEMORIES AFTER THE ONSET OF AMNESIA
Antergrade amnesia; Amnesia, anterograde; Amnesia automatism; Anterograde amnesias; Amnesic automatism; Anterograde Amnesia; Amnesics; Backwards amnesia
In neurology, anterograde amnesia is a loss of the ability to create new memories after the event that caused amnesia, leading to a partial or complete inability to recall the recent past, while long-term memories from before the event remain intact. This is in contrast to retrograde amnesia, where memories created prior to the event are lost while new memories can still be created.
Psychogenic amnesia
HUMAN DISEASE
Dissociative amnesia; Dissociative Amnesia; Psychogenic Amnesia; Functional amnesia; Losing time; Lose time; Enforced amnesia
Psychogenic amnesia or dissociative amnesia is a memory disorder characterized by sudden retrograde episodic memory loss, said to occur for a period of time ranging from hours to years to decades. More recently, "dissociative amnesia" has been defined as a dissociative disorder "characterized by retrospectively reported memory gaps.
Retrograde amnesia
 • Types of RA can be divided into two main categories: ''temporally graded RA and pure forms of RA''. Individuals with pure forms of RA like ''focal, isolated, and pure RA'' do not have anterograde amnesia (AA).
LOSS OF MEMORY OF EVENTS THAT IN OCCURRED BEFORE THE ONSET OF AMNESIAC CONDITION
Amnesia, retrograde
In neurology, retrograde amnesia (RA) is a loss of memory-access to events that occurred or information that was learned in the past. It is caused by an injury or the onset of a disease.

Transient global amnesia

Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a neurological disorder whose key defining characteristic is a temporary but almost total disruption of short-term memory with a range of problems accessing older memories. A person in a state of TGA exhibits no other signs of impaired cognitive functioning but recalls only the last few moments of consciousness, as well as possibly a few deeply encoded facts of the individual's past, such as their childhood, family, or home perhaps.

Both TGA and anterograde amnesia deal with disruptions of short-term memory. However, a TGA episode generally lasts no more than 2 to 8 hours before the patient returns to normal with the ability to form new memories. A patient with anterograde amnesia may not be able to form new memories indefinitely.
